I hear you on writing the END. I'm currently working--stumbling?--my way there on my current (light-weight) rom suspense. So glad you peeked out into the sunshine, even at 18 degrees. We've had a lot of cold sunshine here, but no snow, alas. But we do have mountain reservoirs. Hope they hold enough water.

I took a fun fact from my website (SueWardDrake.com if interested): Grew up in a small southern town and still attends her high school reunions.

Addendum: In an old house raised, of course, like most old Southern houses because of poor drainage and much rain. A freeze (they're so uncommon that's what they're called) would mean frozen pipes. We even had those once in New Orleans and DH had to get under the house with his soldering torch. I don't think we ever got down to 18 degrees, though.

Sue, I checked out your website and found some books to add to my TBR! In fall we close up our lake house, drain the lines, and fill them with antifreeze. It keeps us from coming back to broken pipes in the spring. Hugs!

A good plan for the lake house, but you must have to flush them out in the spirng. Please, don't poison yourself.

I finally figured it out. (why I enjoy your stories so much). They remind me to Rosamund Pilcher's books, especially Winter Soltice.

Good lists!

Thanks, Lizzie!

I'm reading Mad Mabel.

I finally left the neighborhood on Friday for a haircut. She got carried away and took off about 8", which is really obvious with curly hair, because it springs up tighter without the weight of the length, so it looks even shorter than it is.

I thought of a way to reenergize my WIP.

Getting things together for my book event at the library on Saturday.

It might get above freezing Monday!

Denise, I don't know Mad Mabel--I need to check that out. And yeah, I hate when a hairdresser gets carried away. Your hair is just gorgeous though, so wear it proud! Enjoy your book event! Hugs!

Every Sunday I turn my brain off so it can rest so it doesn't shut down on me when I'm not ready. Congrats on your red cowboy boots. I think they look fab. I felt the same way when I bought my Skechers winter boots. They are stylish while keeping me warm and great grip while I am walking through snow. The best part: just slip my foot in. No laces, no bending down to put them on. Huzzah!

I love your lists. I'm a big list person. I had to laugh at your coffee passion and ritual. My mother and grandmother are the same as you. I don't drink coffee.

Hmm, something surprising about me? Every Sunday, my husband and I watch classic episodes of Perry Mason starring Raymond Burr. It's our Sunday tradition. I love it because if I was to live in any decade not Regency, I would choose to live in the 1950s. Life was simpler then and my beliefs align with that decade.

Have a great week, Nan!

Aren't boots of any kind the very best? I love that you have a Sunday Perry Mason ritual with your hubs--that's great! I need to learn to shut down on Sundays. Just one day a week away from the computer would probably do me a lot of good. Hugs, Nancy!

Nan, sorry to shanghai your substack to say hello to Nancy. Who must be freezing along with you. Stay warm.

It really makes a world of difference, Nan. Unplug, if you can on Sundays. I take off from work/business on the weekends which helps too.

Akre those the boots you bought. I can't imagine getting my foot down that long shoot of leather, but I confess to having a pair when I was 5 years old.

Hey, Nancy!

p.s. Nancy. Perry Mason was a staple in our house. Dad had to eat on TV tray.

Sue, those aren't the boot I bought. It's a picture of a pair I was salivating over in Montana. My boots aren't quite so tall or fancy, but they're red and really cool!

How fun about your red boots when you were young. Hi Sue! Happy Sunday. I watched it when I was young and watch it every week with hubby. We have the full series on dvd. So fabulous! Love Della.

Love this, Nan! As another 72-year old woman I have to say I’m green with envy about those boots! Enjoy them! 🥰

Nan's avatar

Don't all 72-year-old women need red cowboy boots, Elsa? Hugs! :-)

Elsa Winckler's avatar

Of course! 🥰

Can't wait to see those red cowboy boots! Cheers!

You know you will! I'll pack them for RAGT26. :-)
